Why lids matter
Most heat escapes from the open top by evaporation and convection. A closed lid traps that heat — which is why the same mug loses heat much faster with the lid off.
If coffee stays too hot
- Leave the lid open for a few minutes before sealing.
- Add a splash of cold milk.
